GONDIA: Forest officials of Tiroda forest range arrested two poachers in compartment no. 62 of reserve forest of Tiroda range for killing a pregnant deer on Friday. Besides the skin and flesh, two foetuses were also recovered.
Some Berdipar villagers spotted the two poachers chasing some wild animals in the reserve forest. On getting information, RFO RB Kawale, his assistant FT Borkar and other staff went to the village and nabbed Gendlal Nagpure and Laxman Nagpure, both residents of same village.

They had hidden the deer's skin in the forest and took the flesh to their residence. On interrogation, they confessed to their crime.
In an earlier incident, a leopard cub died after it was injured by a bull at Piparkhari village in Deori tehsil on Wednesday. The cub had entered the cattle shed of one Balram Kumeti. The injured animal was taken to Navegaon Bandh for treatment but died on Friday night. According to sub divisional officer of Gondia SV Ramarao, the cub was already suffering from kidney ailment and did not respond to the treatment.
